Morning brew with a view

Few things get my day off to a better start than sipping a perfect cup of coffee on a patio in the sunshine. Preparing that morning brew is a ritual I thoroughly enjoy. The aroma of freshly ground beans, the sound of that velvety smooth liquid being poured into a favorite mug, watching a swirl of cinnamon on frothed milk…equals instant comfort no matter where I may be. I’ll have to admit my all time favorite happy place is on my nesting chair under a cozy blanket with my cats and a good book. But a very close second, one that I relish, is lounging on a balcony with a gorgeous mountain view and a delicious brew. Soaking up the sun, staring at the trees and thinking of nothing else but the glorious nature that surrounds me.

Today take a moment to imagine yourself in your happy place, cappuccino in hand. A street side cafe in the city; a quiet park watching dogs walk by; a balcony overlooking a lake, or just your favorite reading chair. Whatever it may be, breath in and see yourself sitting there in total comfort. Imagine the aroma of coffee, the warmth of the mug, how you feel as you prepare for the rest of your day. Got it? Good. Now that you’ve found it why not make a plan to make it reality? Life is meant to be lived not just survived. The past few years we’ve all had to make sacrifices and take extra precautions to get through the pandemic. We did what needed to be done for the good of our families, friends and community as a whole. The daily stress was consumptive, at least in the early stages. At some point I forgot how to enjoy my life. I was hyper focused on just getting through each day and keeping my family safe. Now that we’re coming to the other side of it, it is more important than ever to savor every moment and appreciate the life we have. So I hope you find the time to sit awestruck by the beauty that surrounds us every day. Soak in all the happy in the place you’ve just imagined and seek out what brings you comfort.
